Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary - Situated near Pollachi 90 km from Coimbatore, the Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary is an interesting excursion from Coimbatore. At an elevation of 1,400 metres in the Western Ghats, it is home to a variety of animals and birds like tiger, gaur, elephant, panther, deer, sloth bear, wild bear, wild dog, porcupine, jackal, pangolin, flying squirrel, civet cat and birds like rocket-tailed drongo, black-headed oriole, re-whiskered bulbul, spotted dove, tree pie, and green pigeon. The Amaravathy reservoir has a large number of crocodiles. Annamalai also has sites of scenic beauty such as Anaikunthi shola, Karainshola, grass hills, waterfalls, dams and reservoirs.

Bhavani - The Sangameshwarar temple at Bhavani, situated at the union of the rivers Bhavani and Cauvery, is an important pilgrim centre. Lord Sangameshwarer with his consort Vedanayaki is the presiding deity. Legend has it that William Garrow, the Collector of Coimbatore and Salem districts under the British used to worship Goddess Vedanayaki. One night in his dream Goddess directed him to move out his bungalow immediately. As he moved out, the entire bungalow fell. In reverence of this miracle, he offered an ivory cradle to the temple. The structure is still present in the temple and has his signature.

Siruvani Waterfalls 37 kms west of the city, is the Siruvani waterfall and dam. One is left captivated and spellbound by the panoramic sight of the dam and the falls. The water of Siruvani is known for its minerals and taste.

Thirumoorthy temple Thirumoorthy Temple lies 20 km from Udumalpet on the Palani-Coimbatore Highway . The temple is located at the foot of Thirumoorthy Hills adjacent to the Thirumoorthy Dam. A perennial watercourse flows beside of the Sri Amalingeswarar temple. The beauty of the area is multiplied by the waterfall nearby. The Crocodile Farm at Amaravathi Dam is just 25 km from here.
